what?

Yesterday i was reading some news on the internet and i let out a scream when i read this : 'Maths and Science to be taught in mother tongue language/Bahasa Melayu' and the first thing that ran through my mind was " WHAT in the world is the government doing?"

Seriously, im all out against the idea.

And in class today we were discussing it.. i gota say majority of them were against this idea but the two girls beside me loved the idea. oh ya btw, i never wanted to sit with them in the first place la. pfft.

anyways many arguments came up. those that were with the idea gave reasons like its to help the rural areas( i can accept this). and that more information can be conveyed better to the students. and my neighbour said "Professor (duno wat name.. but its a local one la) kata orang melayu boleh maju dalam matematik dan sains sekiranya diajar dalam Bahasa Melayu" and i was like wtf?

ok sorry ya but im seriously against this idea. and my teacher even said that if my programme, which is internationally recognised, is to be taught in BM, people will get better results. FYI, students in KMB cant sit for the IB pengajian Islam paper because its in Bahasa.

ok la.. giv u a summary of the reasons given by the ones who are WITH the idea. - what the professor said (stated above)
- its our bahasa kebangsaan
- memartabatkan BM
- to help rural areas (which i agree to this la)
- they have asked many professionals. (YEAH. LOCAL professonials that is)
- because the teachers are not good enough to teach in english.

when i heard the last one i got so pissed. what do u mean by teachers are not qualified? I think the teachers are trying to do their job even if it is difficult. and why should our future generation be punished from the opportunity of learning in English?

and there are many other arguments. but my opinion stands. i was so pissed alrite. Stupid people.

and one more reason is that the students are not good in english. and now the standard of english is so damn bloody low.. and they say when they change it to BM they will increase the standard of English. YEAH RIGHT. What makes u think that they will? If the government wants to change it to BM coz they have a problem with English, do you even THINK the government will increase the standard of English? Isnt that worse?

Give me just ONE meeting with any politican, and i will convince them. I will convince them to not change to BM.

but i guess its too late isnt it?

But i believe "the world will be laughing at us." as stated by mr wong. and i agree. so happy being the laughing stalk of the world, dear malaysians.

but for now, let me indulge in self pity. OMg !@#$%^& i wana get out of here!!
